On several occasions has it been noticed Mason Greenwood appears some kind of weird seeing Ronaldo around
According to ESPN, Manchester United summer signing Cristiano Ronaldo is getting irritated with Mason Greenwood due to a lack of cohesion between the duo on the field.
The arrival of the Portuguese international was supposed to be a good thing for the fans, the hierarchy, the players and the coaching staff.
There was a lot of aplomb when he stepped onto the pitch for his debut as well last month, however, things have not gone to plan.
While Ronaldo has scored the goals, United’s form as a whole has deteriorated.
While several players have tried to link up with the 36-year-old and offer him more service upfront, one player that is yet to form an understanding with him is Greenwood.
The pair have featured together eight times, but neither player has assisted the other.
While the Englishman has found the back of the net twice while sharing the pitch with the club legend, he has done so without the help of the experienced forward.
However, the striker is now thought to be getting ‘irritated’ with the winger as he feels the youngster often shoots in front of goal rather than passing it to a teammate in a better position to put the ball in the back of the net.
The duo rarely pass to each other, and the blame is now being put on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian apparently has not stressed a need for the pair to link up more often or form an understanding, according to a source in the Man United camp.
Their most recent game against Liverpool was a perfect depiction of the inability of the two players to successfully form a set of passes together.
Thus, something needs to change soon as the pressure mounts on Solskjaer to form a cohesive and balanced team.
Ronaldo also has to take up the role of a mentor rather than shrink responsibility as the senior player in the mess. At 36, he should be a figure who inspires the youngsters around him rather than sulk. Lest he forget, Greenwood is the future of the club, not him.
Speaking on his reasons, Greenwood said after Liverpool game, “Not really, I clearly didn’t see Ronaldo with the pressure and everything during the game.
“I thought I would score if I shot and help the team equalize but I failed to hit the target.
